Summary
The Chico Basin Ranch is a working cattle ranch that derives its income from grazing and running cattle. It is dedicated to the enhancement and preservation of the natural world and our western heritage. Our mission is to create a working ranching model that views the ranch as an ecological resource base, using cattle as an important tool to manipulate the surface of the ground to achieve conservation goals. This base supports a complementary mix of enterprises that emphasize sustainability, innovative management, and diversification as the keys to economic and ecological viability.
Our family and staff specialize in providing an exclusive number of vacations on a real life, working cattle ranch that shares our way of life with people from all over the world. Central to the ranch's guest operation is providing learning opportunities about large-scale cattle ranching, riding horses, and learning about the wild.
The Chico Basin Ranch hosts families, individuals, or groups who want casual and relaxing vacations or who want more intensive programs. Educational opportunities are also available through a variety of clinics offered in horsemanship and holistic management. The local community has an open invitation to join us for several day events throughout the year, including our spring Chico Days and our annual Artists Gathering Exhibition held each September.
