Summary
Our farm has been in the family for over 230 years. Overlooking beautiful Lake Waramaug, our newly restored 1870 farmhouse offers an ideal location for a relaxing getaway. Elijah Hopkins was the first in our family to move to Lake Waramaug from Massachusetts . In 1787 after returning from the Revolutionary War, Elijah bought our land and established the Hopkins Farm.
Our acreage on Lake Waramaug has seen many forms of agriculture including, the raising of sheep, race horses, grain crops, tobacco, and in more recent years dairying, and grape growing. Elijah’s son William inherited the house and farm and opened his home to boarders in 1846.
Our four guest rooms are elegantly decorated with fine antiques, comfortable reading chairs, and luxurious beds. The bed and breakfast has many quiet corners. Unwind in the garden hammock with a good book, relax with a cup of tea by the fire in the living room, or enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine on the porch. However you chose to spend your stay we’re sure you will leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.
We currently work a vineyard and winery. Our flock of organically fed heritage breed hens free range in our orchard and we collect eggs daily for our farm house breakfasts. We will be adding sheep to our farm this summer and plan to host fiber events as time allows!
