Buccaneer Garden Camping Hostel is a secure gated three acres of beautiful Puna Hawaii property. Centrally located in the Puna district within 20 miles of Volcanoes National Park, or Hilo, or just about anywhere you would want to go in the Hilo, Puna, Kau districts.
Buccaneer Garden is an off grid experiment in self sustainable farming. We grow palms and are setting up a self sustainable aqua-ponics system using tilapia fish. Guests can catch fresh tilapia from the pond. Our pond side picnic pavilion has a utility sink and charcoal and propane barbeques. We supply the propane for the gas bbq's, guests must supply their own charcoal for charcoal bbq's. Hot Showers are available to our camping guests everyday from 8:00 am till 8:00 pm. We have solar water pumps so we need to use them when the sun is shinning or before it gets too late to run the generator.
There is a convenient store 4 miles away from us in Mt. View and 2 more 6 miles away from us in Kurtistown. Kea'au town and Pahoa are about 9 miles from us, Kea'au Town has a Foodland Super market, eateries, Ace hardware, farmers market, etc.
