Summary
This ranch is currently taking a break (2010-2011) from hosting guests.
Our ranch is situated about 60 miles west of Yellowstone, Montana. Just a fence line separates beautiful Yellowstone National Park from the Calaway family's working Yellowstone cattle ranch. Fall River, a nationally designated wild and scenic river borders on the south.
Escape to the West as it used to be, riding along side present day working cowboys as they care for a herd of over one thousand five hundred head of cattle on over 27,000 acres of scenic Idaho back country, unspoiled by man. Enjoy crisp mountain air, breathtaking views of the majestic Grand Tetons cascading waterfalls, and pristine rivers and streams filled with native trout. observe moose, elk, deer, bear, coyotes, wolves, and an occasional buffalo in their native habitat.
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast. The cowboss lays out the days plans. After which horses will be caught up and saddled. Move stock to fresh units, rope and doctor any sick or injured stock. Search out strays, ride fence, put out salt and close a gate or two. Lunch usually in the Forest around noon. The day ends around 5 to 6:00 PM. Return to the cowcamp for that warm meal that awaits you. Close out the day singing or telling that tall tale around the campfire or just sit, relax, and smile about the day you just put in.
We offer cabin style lodging, two (2) persons to a room. Bathroom and shower included. Home style cooking. Good solid food and plenty of it. No such thing as a hungry cowboy/cowgirl at this outfit. Blair is a second generation cowboy. He works cattle the old fashion way, from the back of an American Quarter Horse.
