Summary

Welcome to Hartman's. We are Lynn and Peter Hartman and our daughter Carissa and her children Cameron and Chloe. Other members of our family include, Haunchy, the dog and Cinderella Sunshine, a much smaller dog.

We are a small, family-owned farm that began in 1975 when Lynn Hartman potted up some herbs that she found growing on the old property she and her husband Peter had recently purchased. She brought them to town one weekend and set up at a flea market. By the end of the day, she had sold out and was taking orders for more. We spent the next few years raising our children and learning to grow different plants. We learned about drying them and crafting with many different herbs and flowers.

We have since grown to include facilities for your wedding, wedding reception or gathering. Our dining room can accommodate up to 150. And we offer bed and breakfast accommodations if you'd like to spend the night and enjoy our country setting, nearby walking trails and other activities.

In 1980, after selling some of our herbs, dried plants, dried herbs and flower bunches and dried flowers at a local country fair, we decided to open a shop in the old woodshed at our home. Since then, we have become a multi-faceted business that includes 14 greenhouses for herbs, perennials, bedding, vegetables and dried flower plants, a barn and shop for retail sales and a classroom for teaching dried and fresh flower crafting and other herbal related subjects. We have added dining rooms for bus and group tours, weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries and and functions. We offer five rooms in our bed and breakfast. Our display gardens are available for you to walk in.

Hartman's Herb Farm is located in the Town of Barre, Massachusetts, a typical small New England town with a beautiful common and bandstand. Small businesses, stately old homes and churches encircle the common. Barre is in the heart of Central Massachusetts, just 30 miles northwest of Worcester. We are on the eastern edge of the Quabbin Reservoir, Boston's main water source.
