Summary
Hildreth Livestock is a Nature Explorer's Paradise, located deep in the beautiful Medicine Lodge Valley on the Continental Divide. One of the oldest continuously family owned and operated ranches in Beaverhead County and Montana. Five generations strong. A very rare find. Accommodating guests since 1964. Home of the Beaverhead Impact Structure, the largest meteorite impact crater in the continental U.S., and the Smithsonian Shatter Cone.
We are 50 miles southwest of Dillon, Montana, and are the last of four ranches in this valley, stretching 30 miles in length and reaching farther into the mountains. This is the highest elevation home-based, year-round livestock ranch in Montana, with our valley fields starting at over 7,200 feet and the mountain peak where our cattle graze reaching 10,000 feet in elevation. The ranch houses sit at 7,500 feet.
If you are staying with us during a cattle work day you are more than welcome to watch. If the cattle are not being worked with we will take you out to the pastures and meet some of the "girls" in their normal environment. We will go out with a bucket of pellets or a sack of mineral and let the cattle come greet us. And eat right out of your hand.
