Summary
Located in the middle of Nebraska's best outdoor recreation and wildlife areas, the Lord Ranch is perfect for the nature lover.
Feeling stress from life in the fast lane? Discover quiet serenity and the Sandhill mystique on the Lord Ranch. Bird songs herald the pre-dawn as a rouge tinge brightens hills to the south. Nothing obstructs the view as sunrise paints the eastern horizon or more dramatic sunsets that herald the night and the coyote's song.
Through broad cabin windows looking out across a lush meadow one soon realizes the area teems with life from tiny lizards and turtles to the majestic deer and an occasional coyote. Feathered residents range from tiny song birds to grouse, pheasant and Canada geese to the allusive blue heron. Bird watchers are amazed at the abundance of wildfowl.
We are a working ranch five months a year. We no longer calf out in the winter. We do have cattle here from May 15 through October 15.
Experience an environment that once was most of Nebraska and is now the vanishing prairie. A multitude of native grasses is zealously managed by dedicated ranchers and serves as the quilt that holds the underlying sand in it place. Tying that quilt is an endless display of wildflowers that march through the season. Small wonder that residents call this "God's Country."
