Summary
At Greenwood Hill Farm, our goal is to provide "Grandma and Grandpa's farm -- for all the families not fortunate enough to have grandparents who own a farm." We offer a relaxing farmstay where we open our home to visitors so that they can experience farm life as an escape, entertainment, education, recreation and vacation. We invite you to share our modest home as if you are members of our extended family. You may participate in our daily farm activities, or just kick-back and enjoy "owning" 125 beautiful hill-top acres of fields and woodlands. Come get in touch with nature ...it wants to touch you back. Bring your Play Clothes!
We offer three kinds of overnight accommodations: farmhouse guest bedrooms, RV camping, and tent camping. FARMHOUSE: In the farmhouse (built in 2007), we have three guest bedrooms with shared bath. The farmhouse blends modern convenience with old-fashioned comfort. The main floor is wheelchair accessible throughout. Guest bedrooms are on the main floor. Two have queen beds, the third has a set of bunk beds and a long-single bed. RVs: We can accommodate self-contained recreational vehicles (including horse trailers with living facilities). We do not have water, electric or sewage hook-ups available. There is a central (composting) toilet facility available in the picnic area. TENTS: We can accommodate primitive tent camping. There is a central (composting) toilet facility available on the picnic area.
Greenwood Hill Farm includes 125 acres. We practice "Managed Intensive Grazing" (MIG) for our horses and cattle. At the farm, about 40 acres are fields (farmed organically for hay and grain that supply a local organic dairy), about 50 acres are forest (some human-managed for future generations, some "old grove", managed by a higher authority), and about 20 acres are managed specifically as wildlife habitat (turkey, grouse, blue birds, deer, fox, etc.). The last 15 acres serves a multitude of functions and includes a large, grassy area suitable for all sorts of games. Our pond covers about 1/4 acre and teams with frogs, fish, etc. Though fishing is not permitted, swimming and water play are available. We have a 60'x40' vegetable garden (enough for the house, for canning and a bit for market), a 36' round herb garden (containing every culinary herb that we can find seeds for) and flower gardens of every description. In the evening, you can stargaze (there is no "light pollution" here, so the sky is amazingly clear on many nights) or gather in "Stonehenge" (woodland fire-pit area) to, talk, sing, listen to music and make S'Mores.
