Summary
We are an eco-retreat center is in the hills of White Creek, NY, just fifteen minutes northwest of Bennington, VT. The center is situated on 78 acres of field, forest and streams, surrounded by 2800 acres of state forest. Incorporated and operated as a not-for-profit organization since 1991, Pompanuck offers educational opportunities for children and adults in a wide variety of subjects - music, theatre, visual arts, dance, circus, and natural-building arts.
We will be on sabbatical until June 2012; however we will be open to receiving reservations starting January 2012.
Pompanuck's Roundhouse has been the site of concerts, lectures, public and private events, and meetings. Our community has organized and hosted classes and workshops in yoga, TaiJi, bodywork and international cooking, as well as retreats, and other causes for occasion including weddings, births, and memorials.
We've offered weeklong outdoor education opportunities for local and regional schools and disadvantaged teenagers from N.Y.C. and local County programs. We have given guided tours of our unique buildings and organic gardens to colleges and social service agencies and the many, many people who have visited Pompanuck.
We have a number of Cordwood and Strawbale buildings at Pompanuck. These buildings are energy efficient and hand-made, mostly using waste materials and recycled windows, doors and plumbing fixtures. We recycle and compost and our gardens are completely organic, providing much of the produce for meals we serve during growing seasons. We rely on local farmers and bakers whenever possible for the balance of what we serve at Pompanuck.
