Summary
Walnut Hollow Ranch is located in the mountains of Western North Carolina in Hayesville. Charlie and Barbara Kissling operate Walnut Hollow Ranch, raising high-quality all natural beef and offering a trail vacation stable.
The ranch provides a complete facility for horse enthusiasts. The Nantahala Mountains of the Great Smoky Mountain range offer outstanding trail riding from gentle terrain to challenging trails with fantastic views. Charlie and Barbara often guide the trail rides on their ‘gaited’ Paso Fino horses.
Guests can also participate in farm activities with advance notice, such as feeding, herding, working cattle, and grooming horses.
Priced competitively for the area, there are several options for lodging on the ranch and guests are welcomed for days, weeks, or even as long as a month. There is a barn-loft apartment, a cottage, and a seasonal mountain home. Additionally there are RV hookups.
The environment is intensively managed at Walnut Hollow Ranch with the assistance of the Natural Resource Conservation Service. A number of environmental quality practices are implemented including rotational grazing, creek and stream-bank protection, stabilizing the soils from erosion, and ecological manure management.
