Summary

If you are an Urban Farming pioneer, enthusiast, or gonna-be, a Cultural warrior, jammer, or creator or perhaps a Thinker, Poet, Artist or Dreamer. Then GREAT! We want to meet you and share the wonders of how being connected to one's food creates community, beauty, healing and security. We can't wait to meet you!!!

However, we are not a hotel with air conditioning, nor are we a Bed & Breakfast with doilies and syrup-ey sweet hospitality. We are a clean, simple Farm community and we love meeting warm, open and creative people. If this all sounds fine to you then this might be a really good fit and we look forward to hosting you.

The Neighborhood
Tierra Soul is located in the fun and hip Mississippi Avenue Historic District ~ a couple blocks from boutiques and coffee shops, restaurants and parks. We are a 5 minute drive, and 10 minute MAX ride from downtown and a 5 minute drive, or 30 min. walk, to the Alberta Arts District. We are 3 blocks from a MAX station and bus stop and also have bikes available for your pedaling pleasure! Check out the TriMet trip planner to arrange your travels to and from the airport or other destination.

The Farmhouse
Large house surrounded by magical urban farm (sometimes we call it an un-farm), Founded by Mama and Papa Arias and their two little ones in Spring 2010. Since then Tierra Soul has evolved into community endeavor. We have had a host of interns and WWOOFers. Together we have tended dairy and fiber goats, ducks (including the famous Hettie Quackers) and chickens for eggs and meat, honey bees and an expanding perennial fruit, flower, herb and vegetable garden.

As of January 2012, the Arias clan will be on a sabbatical adventure. While we are out exploring, the guesthouse will be carefully tended by miss Caitlin Murray. Join us for a warm and fun time whether or not you have children. House has lots of communal space to enjoy with a front porch, out-door fire pit, and piano! We also have WIFI and a kitchen available for light guest use during non-quiet hours. Quiet hours (10pm -8am) We have guests from all over the world crossing time zones, sleeping children and a deep respect for the rhythm of the sun.

The Guestrooms
Gypsy Blue: This room got it’s name from our very first guest – La Magdalena, a Flamenco Dancer. Complete with accordion and four poster bed and whimsical library. Queen room with shared bath, $75/night-Fall/Winter, $95/night-Spring/Summer. Sorry, no space for kids or dogs* in this room.

Bluebird: Our other Queen room with shared bath is dedicated to the Literary Arts, featuring local zines and a small poetry/fiction library – and a cool birdcage., $75/night-Fall/Winter, $95-Spring/Summer. Sorry, no space for kids or dogs* in this room.

Barn Dance: Full bed with single pull out futon, and shared bathroom. This room is slightly larger than the first two and features a Farm/self-sifficiency library and a cute red barn. $75/night-Fall/Winter, $95/night-Spring/Summer. $20/extra child or dog* /night.

The Loft: Self-contained second floor suite with private bath, kitchenette and balcony. $125/night-Fall/Winter, $125/night-Spring/Summer. $20/extra person child or dog*. If you are traveling with a small child, let us know and we can set up the wooden crib for your little one. If you do come with children, please respect our quiet hours and supervise them at all times. Also, sick kids are welcome but running a guesthouse exposes us to more foreign colds than we can handle and still be good caretakers. We ask that you keep sick kiddos contained while in common areas especially with other children. Late check-ins are fine just let us know. Cleaning fee is to cover the 12.5% Oregon lodging tax.

A Word About Breakfast: Meals are not included (most of our guests are eager to have a taste of Portland's culinary richness so we don't want you to feel like you're missing out). Enjoy our complimentary coffee and tea bar where you will often find some home-made baked goods!

DOG POLICY: If you have a dog you are traveling with please contact us before booking. Dogs are to be supervised at all times and can't be left in the room when you leave. The dog must be on a leash when in the house and yard. Please respect our gardens and and and pick up after your dog. $20 a night extra.
