Summary
Aberdeen Mills has existed in one form or another since 1770. It was an operating mill until the 1960's as well as a farm producing various crops and animals. We are currently raising goats, Jacob sheep and alpacas for fiber, chickens and eggs, various crops in our garden, and strawberries. We manage our garden organically and our animals naturally. We grow our strawberries vertically, hydroponically, and pesticide free. We have a small shop, "Market in the Mill", where we carry handmade and homegrown items made by local residents and ourselves, including eggs, produce, potted cactus, organic locally grown and milled flours, organic chicken feed, locally roasted fair trade coffee, handmade soaps, handspun yarn, roving, etc. We are located on the Conewago Creek on the Dauphin/Lancaster county line running parallel with the Conewago Rail Trail, a bike and walking trail.
Our accomodations include a 1200 sq. ft cottage that, as the story goes, was once a distillery that crafted rye rum and corn whiskey for sale in Philadelphia. The cottage is located in a beautiful, park like setting. The cottage sleeps six and includes two bedrooms, a loft area, 1 bath, and a full kitchen. You can rent the cottage by the night, week, or month. Included with your overnight stay is a warm welcome basket to get your retreat started just right.
Come relax on the front porch, enjoy your favorite beverage or book, and listen to the sounds of the Conewago Creek. Receive a personalized tour of this Historic Mill and property. Take a leisurely stroll through the woods & wetlands trail on the property. Walk or ride your bike from the Mill to Mt. Gretna (12 miles) on the Conewago Rail Trail located right across the creek. We are located in a great central location for sight seeing and history inspired tours.
