Summary
For centuries the land upon which Blackberry Farm is situated has provided for its inhabitants. The Cherokee and then the first Appalachian settlers learned to live from the land. They discovered how to cultivate what would sustain them in this place and how to forage what was already abundant in the field, forest and stream. Their lives were lived in harmony with this place and as such became part of it.
While you are here, you will sample the products gleaned from the land by our farmstead team. You may take part in the farm activities. If you long to know a place, to feel a connection to it, visit Blackberry Farm and immerse yourself on the farm by observing and participating with the farm team.
To Blackberry's guests, as well as to its proprietors, the farm is more than a quaint glimpse of a storied past. It is a living, breathing reflection of the destination's continued passion for the land and seasons. Perched on a hillside meadow across West Miller's Cove Road from Blackberry's Main House, is The FarmStead, which is home to a cluster of classic farm structures, among them a carefully relocated barn, a luxuriously re-imagined farmhouse and the Larder where all manner of animal and vegetable products are preserved. The FarmStead is the gathering place for people and product on the Farm.
