Summary
High on a hill overlooking the scenic Ottauquechee River Valley in eastern central Vermont, Shepherd's Hill Farm is home to a ewe flock of Polypay sheep. Grazing the gentle hillside, home to sheep in the 1880's, Shepherd's Hill sheep have the best view of the valley, and so can you when you visit Shepherd's Hill Farm.
Guests may participate in farm chores, if desired, consisting of feeding the sheep, moving fences to assure proper grazing rotation, cleaning the barn, or weeding the garden. If honey is being harvested you can help spin it down. Egg collection is also an option from the farm's barred rock hens.
The food products that are sold in the farm store are all generated from the farm. Shepherd's Hill Farm uses sustainable farming techniques such as rotational grazing and use of swale drainage systems to prevent erosion. No synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are ever used on the pastures that the sheep graze on. The folks at Shepherd's Hill Farm invite you to make the farm your 'home away from home' while touring pristine Vermont.
