Summary
An original 1928 log house built from native lumber and stone features sleeping accommodations for up to eleven persons (Adjacent sleeping cabin can handle two more for nominal fee), cozy living area, fully equipped kitchen, and large outdoor decks with grill.
The beautiful Cowpasture River flows just downhill from the cabin offering fishing, swimming, and canoeing in summer.
Hiking along the fields and woodland paths offer glimpses of area wildlife. You may also observe the daily activities of this working farm or settle in for an undisturbed period of rest, relaxation, and isolation.
Or explore the nature around you - of the 680 acres of rolling woodland and meadows all but the central 125 acres which are managed for commercial cattle, sheep and hay are richly forested. With numerous bluebird boxes sprinkled throughout the property the visitor is assured a welcome by the eastern bluebirds. The wildlife includes numerous bird species such as eastern kingbird, eastern meadowlark, sparrows, wood duck, belted kingfisher, herons and even bald eagles along the banks of the river. In the woods you might get a climpse of ruffed grouse and wild turkey, Carolina wren and ovenbird. White-tailed deer are quite common and less easily seen are foxes and bobcats.
