Summary
Spring Grove is a working Christmas tree plantation. You will enjoy the pleasing fragrance of a walk among the miles of rows of pines and spruces. A vegetable garden provides fresh produce in season. There is asparagus in spring, raspberries and blackberries in summer as well as the usual fresh vegetables. Emily enjoys freezing and canning the produce, so you can enjoy her jellies and pickles all year, as well as fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. She gardens organically, so you can feel free to pop the fresh fruit or vegetables in your mouth straight from the garden.
Spring Grove Farm is a two-hundred acre Virginia plantation that has been fully restored to its 1842 condition, with compatible wings for additional facilities and baths. Sixteen restored fireplaces warm the public areas and your room in cool weather. Central heat and air conditioning were added during restoration for your year round comfort. Eleven rooms and suites are available, all with private baths. Play the grand piano in the parlor or carriage house, watch old or new movies in the media room via satellite TV, or just relax on the many porches and decks that take in our lovely country vistas.
We have over two hundred quiet, country acres for you to enjoy and hike over while you visit us. Stroll through the vegetable garden or berry rows, check out our fruit trees or wander over the lawn and view our perennial beds. Hike out to the barn or down to the bridge over Wreck Island Creek. Wander up the old county road that is now part of the farm or follow our mowed paths which wend their way around the farm and up through the Christmas trees that we grow. Walk down to the spring that gave our farm its name which gurgles out beneath a giant white oak. Or just sit back and relax on one of our many porches and watch the cows graze in our meadow (a guaranteed stress reducer).
