Summary
Welcome to the Doublerafter. This is the real deal. We promise you the trip of a lifetime. This is reality. We don't schedule phony stampedes, cloudbursts, blizzards, rodeos, wagon wrecks, or brush fires. They happen all on their own! Check us out. We are a real family owned and working cattle ranch.
Once on the National Forest you will be moved by the beauty of the lush, green, flower-filled open parks which are characteristic of the Big Horns. Far off to the west is the ever present roar of the plunging falls of Leaky Mountain. In our Rock Cabin Park camp you will find there is a perfect spot to sit with a cup of boiled coffee and soak in all the surrounding beauty. Ponder this: you are 12 miles from the nearest road, any soul in this canyon is part of your group, there are no phones or electricity, the first sign of civilization is a 4-6 hour horseback ride in any direction and in two days you have to fly home to people, pollution, and the stresses back at work. It's amazing people leave.
We only do four week-long trips a year, and a special two-week clean-up ride after the last round-up in September. Cooking is done Dutch-oven style. The herd travels eight to 12 miles a day. You will be the cowboy. Every trip starts with a horsemanship clinic. There is not another cattle drive like this one anywhere. We have been trailing cattle to the Big Horn Mountains for our summer grass for 115 years. This is not nose to tail!! Some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. We move camp 3 times during the week and the one camp is only accessible afoot or horseback. There are no cabins or lodges. This is an 1880 style cattle drive. They can accommodate any level of rider.
