Enjoy a day -- or several -- on a working cattle ranch in the North/East corner of Wyoming, close to the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota/Wyoming and its world-famous destinations, including Mt. Rushmore and Devils Tower. Greenwood Ranches is a 5th generation working ranch. We have miles of wide open spaces to ride across on "real Ranch ponies". You are invited to take part in our every day ranch life, eating real western beef and home grown veggies cooked with attention to "all natural" healthy diet and give personal attention to fitting you with the right horse for your riding companion. You will get riding lessons from real cowboys and horse trainers, then you will get to put your new knowledge to work as you enjoy cowboying with our family and ranch hands as we sort and brand cattle, have cattle drives and ride the open ranges.
It is not unusual to see whitetail and mule deer, antelope, jackrabbit, bobcat, eagles, to name just a few of the abundant wildlife. You may even catch a glimpse of the elusive Mountain lions that make the ranch their home.
We have real ranch horses that are used for daily ranch activities, these are not "nose-to-tail" dude horses. We raise our own horses and all are trained here on the ranch. We have a breeding program that is credited with producing horses that have won top placing in the World Standings in AQHA Cow horse and reining events. We yearly supply the Miss Rodeo South Dakota Pageant with horses.
