Summary
We invite you to visit our historic working ranch, nestled in the mountains of Wyoming and Colorado's high country. Ladder Livestock Company has been in the Salisbury family for over 120 years, since A. W. Salisbury came to the area in the mid-1880's and established the original ranching operation.
We raise cattle, sheep and horses on over 100,000 acres of some of the most beautiful country to be found anywhere and offer you a unique opportunity to work with us in a real ranch environment. We do some farming, primarily of alfalfa and hay, and use it for winter feed for the livestock. The home ranch is located at about 7000 feet altitude, which makes for high quality hay, and a short growing season. The ranch headquarters lies in the shadow of Battle Mountain, and affords a view overlooking Squaw Mountain, Sheep Mountain, Battle Creek and the Little Snake River.
Our isolated valley offers the ideal opportunity for those who wish to relax and explore nature. The area abounds in wildlife, including deer, elk, antelope, black bear, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, badgers and coyotes. Birdwatchers will enjoy seeing bald eagles, golden eagles, several species of hawks, sandhill cranes, sage grouse, and doves, as well as many smaller species.
Stay in our Cook House or Bunk House. For something more private, families or groups can rent Lemon's House with its own corral.
