Regional Guide - Midwest (East North Central) Farm and Ranch Stays

This part of the Midwest includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and  Wisconsin.  A cultural crossroads in the early 1800s, the land was settled by easterners looking for better farmland and Swedes and Norwegians migrating directly to the interior of the U.S.

With its fertile soils, this region is known as America's bread basket, producing abundant harvests of cereal crops such as wheat, oats and corn.  The Amish also settled here and farm stays on Amish farms in Ohio and Illinois bring you close to the land (and far from technological amenities!).

The states in this region all have one thing in common - the Great Lakes.  Some of our farms have views over the waters while others are within driving distance.  Wisconsin is surrounded by the Great Lakes waters on three sides.

One might not think of the midwest as wine country but you will find thriving vineyards, a number of which take overnight guests, in all of these fine states. And, let's not forget Wisconsin's cheese reputation.

Whether it's wineries or ranching or farming, you are sure to find plenty of hospitality in the East North Central Midwest region.
