Tiffany and Russell’s place is a literal heaven on earth. From the first breathtaking view of the farm and cottage to the decor inside- We felt like home the minute we arrived and have been missing it since the minute we left. I am very particular about cleanliness and it was immaculate here. I never use a coffee maker ANYWHERE I go, but it definitely got used daily at the cottage! Waking up to the chickens and sitting on the porch swing are things I will cherish for years to come. We fell in love with all the animals and were lucky to meet a few pups and the ducks! Touring the farm was a great time and made my son Russell’s biggest fan. I honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay. We came to relax and we were lucky enough to do so with a sprinkling of exploring the surrounding areas in between. We hope to be repeat visitors. Tiffany and Russell set the bar extremely high, I don’t know if we will ever find another place like it! Book this place, you won’t regret it!!

Our family of four (kids 6 and 2) had an amazing time at the farm. The tour and chores were hands on and the perfect level for our kids. Our daughters loved getting to see the animals, playing in the stream, and exploring the area. The food was incredible and our hosts were so friendly and helpful with local recommendations. We hope to return!

My husband and I had the best wedding weekend at Fat Sheep Farm! The scenery was stunning and the vibe was so cozy—perfect for gathering with our closest friends. Our ceremony was nearby and we loved waking up to horses right outside our cabins. We had delicious bakery goods waiting for us upon check in as well as fresh eggs.

Where Hospitality Comes Naturally
Across the country, farms are welcoming guests in growing numbers, from short visits to longer stays, offering a close look at everyday farm life. It’s an invitation to see where food comes from and to experience farm life. Those who have chosen to do this have done so thoughtfully. There is no performance or theme, but instead a form of welcoming, a chance to share the land and introduce the families who care for it. From the outside, visiting a working farm can feel a little unexpected. The farmer has laden the breakfast table with jams they made and eggs fresh from the chicken coop. You step outside your door to pick fresh fruit from the orchard, or maybe you’re invited to try your hand at milking a dairy cow or holding a bottle of warm milk for a calf. The lights are on for your late arrival, and a friendly note on the table welcomes you to the farm. This is a visit to a family’s home in the countryside. At Farmstay, we work with farms and ranches across the country that welcome guests in many different ways. Some are just beginning their hospitality journey. Others have been opening their gates for decades, shaping hospitality through lived experience rather than any single formula. This is a small glimpse of the many farms that do this kind of hosting especially well (the first three farms on our list were early U.S. pioneers in farm hospitality, welcoming guests as far back as the 1950s).
